OUR EARLY HISTORY

In 1982, Frontier was established under the name of Frontier Packing & Transportation. There were only 3 employees and 2 trucks utilizing 2,000 SQ FT of warehouse space in Carson, California. Frontier’s early volumes were not growing and would not grow for some time. Like many young start-up companies, Frontier had its own struggles and difficulties in its first 3 years.

A limited number of customers and minimal cargo volume forced Frontier to attempt door-to-door sales, but we were continuously denied before any potential partnerships came into fruition. But Frontier did not give up, and instead, decided to provide the best possible service for their existing customers. This dedicated and loyal business strategy greatly helped Frontier end its first 3 years of difficulties.  With incredible resilience and continued perseverance, Frontier was able to secure a small number of consistent customers.

In 1985, Frontier started a direct business relationship with Samsung Corporation and moved into a 10,000 SQ FT warehouse. With gradual increases in overall volume, Frontier started providing complete logistics services by adding customs brokerage in 1986 and freight forwarding in 1987. In 1988, Frontier started its business relationship with KTV and relocated to a 40,000 SQ FT warehouse. At that time, Frontier was showing great signs of growth and was starting to settle in as an all-in-one logistics company.

In 1991, Frontier moved into a 60,000 SQ FT warehouse by starting a new business relationship with Hyosung Corporation. And in 1992, Frontier acquired another 150,000 SQ FT warehouse to provide services for Samsung displays, totaling in 210,000 SQ FT of complete warehouse space. Due to an end of our business with Samsung Displays in 1994, Frontier moved its headquarters to Compton into a warehouse space of 150,000 SQ FT.

In 1997, Frontier opened a 50,000 SQ FT warehouse in Fort Worth, Texas to start a business relationship with AST Computers. This new opportunity had Frontier back to utilizing 200,000 SQ FT of warehouse space, and expanded the servicing territory to drive beyond Southern California.

In 2001, Frontier purchased its building in Compton to minimize operating expenses. Shortly thereafter, the Compton warehouse was expanded by an additional 50,000 SQ FT, for a total of 200,000 SQ FT of Frontier property at the time.

In 2003, Frontier added a 45,000 SQ FT warehouse in Edison, New Jersey, which increased Frontier's property space significantly and provided a Frontier branch on the east coast of the United States. Although we would later close our New Jersey branch, it helped strengthen Frontier's overall infrastructure and helped open a new branch in the midwest in Illinois.

From 2005-2010, Frontier continued to increase its warehouse space. And in 2010, Frontier had added a 375,000 SQ FT warehouse near Chicago, Illinois. Soon after, Frontier opened a 140,000 SQ FT warehouse in Gardena, CA, which along with the Illinois warehouse, quickly expanded Frontier's overall warehouse space.

In 2013, Frontier opened a new 612,000 SQ FT warehouse building in Ontario, California. Frontier's Ontario warehouse is now our single largest warehouse building space and has greatly helped us in improving our supply chain infrastructure.

Since 2013, Frontier has about 200 employees and operates in approximately 1,000,000 SQ FT of warehouse space.
